Fabulous February: Throwback Thursday – Black History Month Edition 1

I hope everyone is having a Fabulous Thursday and a wonderful week so far!

For our first Throwback Thursday – Black History Month Edition I enlisted my husband to pick the historical person or event. Since it is also Heart Health Month he picked………

https://columbiasurgery.org/news/daniel-hale-williams-and-first-successful-heart-surgery

Daniel Hale was the son of a Barber, the fifth of seven children, and started his young adult life as a Shoemaker. He soon realized that he aspired for more. He went to medical school and then joined a private practice. He believed that Chicago should and could have a hospital open to all with both black and white doctors, staff, and students. On May 4, 1891, he achieved this with the first Black Owned hospital, Provident.

In 1893 a young man with a stab wound was brought in. Dr. Hale realized that the wound was fatal. He created a small door through the ribs and found a gash on an artery as well as one on the heart itself. He sutured the artery and then used forceps to hold the gash on the heart closed while he sewed it shut. The patient was able to leave the hospital in less than 2 months and lived for many more years, thanks to Dr. Hale’s quick thinking and willingness to try something new.

Dr. Daniel Hale had many more achievements after this and continued to help advance the medical community, for all races.

Knowledge is power and with togetherness we find strength.

No Excuse November Day 16: Wellness Wednesday

Just stopping by to share my Habit Tracker! One more successful week down means one more week closer to my goals!

Habit Tracker Week 2!

A couple of days ago, I mentioned struggling with the time change. It’s dark more than it is light, which makes me sleepy. I restarted taking my vitamin D, and about mid-day I open the blinds; this has really seemed to help. I am not ready for bed at 6:30pm, the last 2 nights LOL. I also order a personal sunlight lamp, which I will start using tomorrow.

I would love to hear about your goals, habits, wellness challanges, wellness vitories, etc….

Be Peaceful,

No Excuse November Day 13: Sharing Saturday & Sunday

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend!

Today was pretty low key. I grocery shopped, had to hit Sally’s, cooked, laundry, etc… We have a big weekend coming up next week, so I tried to just to get some downtime today. What about you? How was your weekend?

I noticed since the time change last weekend, I’m getting tired way too early. Does this happen to anyone else? I restarted taking my vitamins, especially my vitamin D! What do you do for winter time fatigue or blues? I’m considering getting a UV light.

Be Peaceful,

No Excuse November Day 3: Think about it Thursday

Today is the day! No Excuse! Just Start!

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. – Theodore Roosevelt

Sometimes, we overcomplicate things which inturn causes us to procrastinate or worse…… Never start! What is something you want to do but have talked yourself out of? What is a small step you can take to just start? Think about it?

I always wanted to blog and/or vlog but would always convince myself not to, or when I did try, I would give up too easily. I finally realized that if it was something I wanted to do, then I should just do it and commit to it. I set a date, came up with a plan, and then just started! I proved to me that I could!

Be Peaceful,

Blogtober Day 31: Motivated Monday

Today, instead of sharing a Monday Motavtional quote, I will share what I am motavted to start……… No Excuse November!

No Excuse November! Make the Time, Plan, Check It Off!

For No Excuse November, I am challenging myself to continue to post daily as well as take steps to establish some new habits. The daily posting and the new habits are all in line with my larger goals, both short and long term.

I will continue with themed daily posts, but some of the themes will change to better fit the No Excuse November theme and my planned habits. I will also start to incude some vlogs.

Last Tuesday in my teaser post announcing No Excuse November, I mentioned that one of my goals was better routines, especially for wake-up and bedtime, which will start with early wake-up times. Below are all five habits I will be incorporating throughout November.

  • Wake-up by 5:45 am
  • 20 Minutes Activity
  • Track All Food
  • 15 minutes Personal Growth Reading
  • 30 Minutes Blog/Vlog Work/Research

My goal is to complete each habit 5 out of 7 days. Below is the tracker I will be using.

I hope you will join me in No Excuse November, while we elimate excuses in order to work towards our goals and habits. Share in the comments what habits or goals you are working towards and any steps you plan to take to get there.

Be Peaceful,

~Nettie

Blogtober Day 30: Step it up sunday

Simple steps we can take while preparing for the week to take it to the next level………

My weekend was pretty busy, so my time to prep for the week was limited. I knew I really had to utilize my time wisely. Sunday morning, I made waffles for breakfast. I decided to double the recipe, so I would have a couple extra for later in the week. Since I cook breakfast every morning, I knew this would save me some time during the week, therefore making my mornings smoother.

For waffles and pancakes, I like to use Millville Protein with Oats mix from Aldi’s. I like to add egg whites (1/3 cup per batch) to add more protein and make them a little fluffier. Sometimes, I add chopped peacans and chocolate chips (bake believe or lily’s brand).

What was something you did last weekend to prepare for the workweek?

Be Peaceful,

~Nettie
